Professionalism

Professionalism is combination of
knowledge, ethics, standards, a service
motive, and is regulated by a sanctioning
organization.

Knowledge refers to the specialized body
of knowledge unique to the profession and
to the effective transmission of this
knowledge.

Ethics refers to the moral philosophy of
the individuals in the field.

Standards
can be seen involving both
ethics and knowledge, as they include
requirements which have been identified
as necessary to become fully qualified in
the field and rules for maintaining these
standards by eliminating unqualified
practitioners and by preventing
unqualified individuals from entering the
profession.

Professionals are self-governing so it may be
_necessary to remove one who doesn't perform._
