Policies

Assignments: All assignments must be submitted on or before the date indicated on the Academic Calendar unless an exception is granted in advance. Failure of the instructor to remind students than an assignment is due does NOT excuse students from having missed a deadline. Lateness may result in a deduction of points.

Withdrawal: This instructor follows the Official MCCD Policies. Know that never attending a course is not a guarantee for a refund or an excuse of the debt incurred through registration. Failure to file an official withdrawal may result in a failing grade.

Attendance: A student who misses more minutes than a class meets per week, and is not making satisfactory progress as determined by the Instructor, may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Instructor.

Students must be registered for a class to attend. Children (younger than 18) may not attend any class unless they are officially registered for the class. Children will not be allowed on campus unless participating in an authorized college program or under the supervision of an adult (Common Pages 2.4.9).

Class Participation: Participation is important. Every student is accountable for all the information presented during each class -- whether they attend or not. It is strongly recommended you exchange telephone numbers with fellow students whom you trust, who can be relied upon to take notes and with whom you can share information and insights, should it be necessary to be absent.

Class participation is defined as attending regularly scheduled class meetings, actively and regularly participating in classroom and online discussions and interactive group activities. Class participation is an essential part of this course.

Communication Policy: E-mail sent to your instructor will be returned within 24 hours Monday - Thursday. For the purposes of this course, all students will be expected to use their Maricopa e-mail account. The subject box of all emails sent to the instructor must include course prefix and number (i.e., Eng102) and course section number (i.e., 1651).

Disability Policy: The College and this instructor will make any and all reasonable accommodations for persons with documented disabilities, including learning disabilities. Students should notify Ramona Shingler in Komatke Hall B (623-935-8935) and all their instructors as soon as possible of any special needs.

Safety: Behavior is governed by Arizona Criminal Code 13-2911 All Estrella Safety Officers have legal authority to administer the law. Most are sworn Peace Officers and have the legal right to make a formal arrest.
